4. Wrist exercises
4.1. Active-assisted wrist flexion and extension
Active-assisted wrist flexion and extension
Movements strengthened: Wrist flexion and extension strength.
Suitable for: 0-2/5 wrist flexion or extension strength.
Instructions:
- Person seated or standing with elbow straight
- Press the back of the involved hand with the other hand
- Gently bend the wrist of the involved hand down
- Hold for 5 seconds and then slowly press the fingers in a backward direction and hold for another 5 seconds
- Repeat 10 times
- For active-assisted movement, encourage as much independent movement as possible
Where this movement should be felt:
Person should feel this in their wrist and forearm muscles.
