7.2. Step ups

Step ups 


Movements strengthened: This exercise helps to improve knee and hip extension strength. 

Suitable for: Use this exercise for people with 3-5/5 knee and hip extension strength. 


Instructions: 

  • Person standing at base of step or stairs holding on to solid object or rail for support
  • Person steps up on to step with one foot and then follows with the next foot 
  • Slowly step back down using the foot the person stepped up with and following with the other foot
  • Repeat 10 times on both sides 


Where movement should be felt: 

Person should feel this in the buttock and the front of the thigh.
